Candid cameras in Congress

The House of Representatives recording studio allows news cameras to show only the member speaking and wide shots of the floor of the House. But during the recent multi-day battle over the next House speaker, the media was free to capture members negotiating, debating and even losing their temper, as Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala .) When Rep. Matt Gaetz (R – Fla.) declined to endorse Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R – Calif.) for speaker. C-SPAN asked McCarthy to continue allowing candid cameras in the future.
