But during the recent multi-day battle over the next House speaker, the media was free to capture members negotiating, debating and even losing their temper, as Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala .) When Rep. Matt Gaetz (R – Fla.) declined to endorse Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R – Calif.) for speaker. C-SPAN asked McCarthy to continue allowing candid cameras in the future.
