Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) lashed out at Governor Ron DeSantis after he claimed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was not a priority for the United States.
After DeSantis steps down for Putin, Graham tweeted:
Ukraine voluntarily gave up its nuclear weapons in 1994 in exchange for Russia’s recognition of Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty, which included Crimea.

The last time anyone in Europe claimed another’s land and tried to take it by force of arms was Adolf Hitler’s attempt to build a Third Reich.
Those who miscalculated Hitler’s intentions paved the way for a larger war and missed many opportunities to stop him early on.

Now is not the time to repeat the mistakes of the past.
By the way, China’s claim to Taiwan is also based on the proposed territorial dispute. I hope that the Democratic and Republican parties will reject this proposal.

Sen Graham’s view of the Russian invasion of Ukraine was accurate. Lindsey Graham took Ron DeSantis to school, and the Florida governor seems to be getting a harsh lesson that the things he can get away with in his state won’t fly nationally.

DeSantis is so used to repeating whatever the far right wants without any consequences, but the same dynamic isn’t working in the early stages of the 2024 Republican presidential primary.
Lindsey Graham made Ron DeSantis look like a little governor who is way over his head on the national stage. Democrats won’t agree with Senator Graham on a lot of things when it comes to foreign policy, but the South Carolina senator is absolutely right about the importance of supporting and defending Ukraine.
The pro-Russian propaganda was a self-inflicted wound by the governor of Florida. DeSantis’ support for Putin is another sign that the Republican Party is in chaos and divided.
