Best known for his physique, Labrada’s strength is not lacking either.
Labrador Hunter swore to push each other after a disappointing seventh place At 2022 Mr. Olympia. Labrada was hoping to build on a fourth-place finish that would put him on the bodybuilding map at the 2021 Mr. Olympia. More than five months later, at the time of this writing and on the brink of summer 2023, Labrada appears to be fulfilling his personal promise to compete in the gym.
On May 23, 2023, Labrada shared an Instagram clip of himself capture a 265.3 kilograms (585 pounds) deadlift for four repetitions. According to the caption of his post, the four-rep pull-up set is a lifetime personal best (PR) for Labrada. The bodybuilder completed his deadlift reps in his socks while wearing a lifting belt and using lifting straps.
This four-rep deadlift PR isn’t the only example where Labrada stays true to his coaching word so he can have a better performance at Mr. Olympia 2023. If anything, making a foray into polishing his strength as a bodybuilder could be considered Labrada going above and beyond.
In early February 2023, Labrada specified that it would aim a more streamlined physique advance in his career. Her focus now is more on her body aesthetics and being a bit more torn rather than focusing on size. More recently, Labrada detailed their current traction drive while training for the 2023 Tampa Pro, which will take place August 3-5, 2023 in Tampa Bay, Florida. Due to new qualification standards for the Mr. Olympia 2023 which only give automatic spots to past winners and the top five, Labrada will have to win a contest like the Tampa Pro to compete in November’s Olympia.
On stage, Labrada was one of many men’s Open contenders on hand to guest poses at Pittsburgh Pro 2023 in mid-May 2023. Other athletes like Derek Lunsford, Nick WalkerAnd Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay are examples of rivals that Labrada will attempt to defeat at Olympia 2023 in Orlando, Florida, in November.
In such a stacked standings of the Men’s Open, anyone standing out at Olympia 2023, let alone Labrada himself, could be a very difficult task. Based on the continued approach to his training in calendar year 2023, Labrada appears to be taking extra steps to try to stick with it.
