Now in Malaysia is the 2023 Aveta VADV150 hybrid scooter, priced at RM13,980 excluding road tax, insurance and registration. The VADV150 receives acceleration assistance up to 50 km/h, which Aveta calls “Hybrid Assist” via the use of a “Smart Motor Generator” which feeds drive back into the motor using the alternator.
The VADV150’s engine is an EFI-powered, liquid-cooled SOHC four-valve single-cylinder mill displacing 149cc. The power of the VADV150 is rated at 16.22 hp with electric assistance and the maximum torque is 14.6 Nm.
As standard, Aveta’s SAF ABS works on both the 14-inch front wheel and 13-inch rear wheel, while tire sizes are listed as 110/80 front and 130/70 in back. Suspension is provided by non-adjustable telescopic forks at the front and preload-adjustable dual shock absorbers with remote reservoirs at the rear.
The VADV150 has some features not usually seen on motorcycles and scooters in the Malaysian market. One of the features is the digital video recording (DVR) system that equips the VADV150 with front and rear facing cameras.
Also standard is the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), which automatically adjusts the beam of the headlights according to speed and driving angle, providing a clearer view of the road ahead. Inside the cockpit, a 7-inch TFT LCD screen displays all the necessary information and also includes a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) as well as Bluetooth connectivity to the pilot’s smartphone.
Other driving conveniences include keyless start, idle engine start and stop, a two-position manually adjustable windshield and a USB charging port. Beneath the seat is generous storage space while the fuel tank capacity is 9.3 liters with dimensions of 2072 x 720 x 1260mm making the VADV slightly larger than the Honda ADV150.
The seat height of the VADV150 is 775mm while the weight is 150kg due to the addition of the hybrid engine, making it the heaviest scooter in its class. Three color options are available – Yellow Topaz, Blue Sapphire and Red Ruby – with stock available immediately from all authorized Aveta Malaysia dealers.
